No free treatment for unvaccinated people; Health dept issues order

covid-vaccine

KOZHIKODE: The Health Department has issued an order stating that unvaccinated Covid patients should not be offered free treatment under the Karunya Health Insurance Scheme. The order has been issued to all medical colleges.

The order, however, stated that free treatment will be given to those patients who are not able to get vaccinated due to allergies or other health issues. Such people should produce a medical certificate to get free treatment. The order also said that those patients, who produce an affidavit stating that they will produce a medical certificate issued by a government doctor within one week, will also be given free treatment. However, if the patient fails to produce the medical certificate in one week, revenue recovery action should be taken to recover the amount spent on the treatment from the patient, the order stated.
