'Congress essential for political alternative': CPI mouthpiece supports Binoy Viswam's statement

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI mouthpiece Janayugam has come out in support of Binoy Vishwam's position that the Congress is essential for a national political alternative and that a national alternative with the Left parties is impossible. In the newspaper's editorial, it is said that what Binoy Viswam said was party's stand.

Congress is essential for a political alternative. Party state secretary Kanam Rajendran had yesterday defended Binoy Vishwam's stand.

"The BJP is strong in most states of the country. The Left parties might not be able to come to take Congress' position when it is weak", Kanam Rajendran opined.

He had said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's view that only the Left can form an alternative with the regional parties was the CPM's view.
