College student brutally beaten in Thrissur; case against four

THRISSUR: A college student was brutally beaten in the district. The victim has been identified as Amal of Chethana College at Chiyyaram in the district. He was hit with a stone on his head. Amal was brutally beaten by Davis, a native of Kodakara.

Amal was coming fast on his bike with his female friend. Suddenly his bike skidded on the road. When the locals came asking about it, Amal spoke rudely with them. Davis, who was one among the locals threw a stone at Amal's head. Anto, who was there, dragged Amal on the ground and beat him brutally. None of the locals opposed their act. Amal has lodged a complaint against Davis. A case was registered against four on his complaint. Amal said this is an incident of moral policing.

The police have also registered a case against Amal on the complaint lodged by the locals.

The locals say that Amal was the one who started the fight. They also alleged that Amal used to frequent bike racing in the area. The police have received the visuals of Amal hitting Davis.
