THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police force should become a professional system, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. If the police are not given proper training, it will be detrimental to the society. In earlier times, police were used to suppress people. Although those times have passed, there has been no major change in the police force. The passing out parade should also be changed from that of the normal systems. Those responsible have an obligation to look into it, said the chief minister.

Even after receiving modern training, some still carry the old flaws. It is tarnishing the image of the police force in general. Everyone should realize this individually. Police’s tongue should not create disgust in people. I am reminding this in the very beginning because of such isolated events, said the chief minister, during the passing out parade of the new sub inspectors.

This is also the time when the police have become the savior of the people in times of danger. We all saw the people-supportive face of the police, during the harsh times of flood and corona. Such changes can be brought in through changes in training as well, he added.
