Singer-Composer Bappi Lahiri passes away

MUMBAI: Hindi singer-composer Bappi Lahiri breathed his last at Criticare hospital in Mumbai. He was 69. He was discharged on last Monday after a month of hospital treatment. After returning home, his health deteriorated and was again rushed to the hospital.

Bappi Lahiri was one of the pioneers of disco style of music in India. He was a popular singer of the 1980s and 1990s. He is well known for his super hit compositions such as Wardat, Disco Dancer, Namak Halal, Commando, Sharaabi and Dance Dance.

In Malayalam, he has composed music for the movie 'The Good Boys'. His last composition was for the movie Baaghi 3, released in 2020. In 2014, he had contested as a BJP candidate from Serampore in West Bengal.
