Receiving two doses of the vaccine does not guarantee that you will be safe from Covid in India, reason behind it and things to be done

NEW DELHI: With the country witnessing a decline in Covid cases, most states are considering easing the Covid restrictions. Maharashtra has already lifted the mask mandate.

However, experts are saying that even a person who has received two doses of the Covid vaccine is not completely safe from the disease. According to health experts, 30 percent of people who have taken two doses of the vaccine in India are at risk of contracting Covid again. This is due to the fact that the current Covid vaccine's immunity is found to be declining after six to eight months.

Experts suggest that those who have taken two doses of the vaccine should be given a third dose as a booster dose. At present, booster dose vaccines are given in India only to health workers and senior citizens above 60 years of age. Experts say that there is still a risk of Covid's fourth wave in India and that the impact of the fourth wave can be minimized if at least people with serious physical problems are given a booster dose.
