KALPETTA: Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare Smriti Irani will arrive in Wayanad today. She will attend the district development committee meeting to be held at the Collectorate this morning. She will also attend the aspirational district review meeting to be held at the mini conference hall.
The minister will also visit the Maravayal Tribal Settlement Colony in Kalpetta Municipality, the Ponnada Anganwadi in the first ward and the Varadur Smart Anganwadi in Kanyampatta Grama Panchayat constructed with CSR funds.
The minister is arriving in Kerala with the intervention of Suresh Gopi. The Centre is likely to appoint a special team to study the plight of the tribals in Wayanad. Suresh Gopi had raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha last month.
