Sexual abuse case: Interpol hands over arrest warrant against Vijay Babu to UAE police

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Interpol has handed over an arrest warrant against actor and producer Vijay Babu to the UAE police in a case of sexually abusing a young actress. The move comes ahead of the issuance of a Red Corner notice against the actor. The action was taken on an application filed by the Kochi City Police.

The court had yesterday issued an arrest warrant against Vijay Babu. The order was handed over to the UAE police through Interpol. Meanwhile, police have not been able to trace the whereabouts of Vijay Babu in Dubai. The next step will be after receiving information regarding the whereabouts of the hideout from the UAE police.

Vijay Babu had been issued several notices by the police asking him to appear for questioning. This action was taken following his non-appearance. Vijay Babu had said that he would appear for questioning only after the 19th of this month. The police rejected this and took stern action.

Earlier, the police had issued a Blue Corner notice against Vijay Babu with the help of Interpol. An Interpol Red Corner notice will be issued against Vijay Babu in the next few days.
