ALAPPUZHA: Police have arrested 18 Popular Front leaders in connection with the incident in which a child was seen chanting hate slogans during a rally. All the arrested persons were organizers of the event. The accused were produced at the magistrate's house at night. The accused were produced before the magistrate in the night itself in order to avoid possible clashes. According to the police, the accused were arrested for creating an opportunity to spread religious hatred.
PA Nawaz and Ansar, who were earlier arrested in the case, were sent to police custody till Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Popular Front will hold a demonstration towards the Alappuzha SP office tomorrow alleging that the police are hunting down Popular Front members for the slogan chanted by a child.
