MUMBAI: Mumbai police will summon former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma to record her statement in connection with the FIR registered against her for making derogatory remarks against the Prophet. Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey said a notice would be issued to Nupur soon. Nupur had made derogatory remarks against the Prophet while participating in a television discussion the other day. With her remarks sparking controversy, the BJP suspended Nupur Sharma from the party's primary membership.
Meanwhile, more and more countries have come out in protest over the BJP leaders' speech derogatory remarks against the Prophet. Recently, Iran too had summoned the Indian ambassador to lodge a complaint against the remark. The Indian ambassador expressed regret and called any insult to the Prophet of Islam unacceptable.
