Power tariff hike announced in state; increase of Rs 22 for up to 100 units per month

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has announced a power tariff hike of 6.6 per cent in the state. There is no hike for domestic consumers with usage up to 50 units per month. There is a hike of 25 paise for power usage from 51 units to 150 units. An increase of Rs 22.50 and Rs 47.50 have been announced for up to 100 units and 150 units respectively, per month. There is no tariff hike for those below the poverty line (BPL).

The connected load for small shops has been increased to 2000 watt. There is no tariff hike for old age homes, anganwadis and orphanages. The current relaxation for the victims of endosulfan tragedy will continue. There will be no hike for those using 40 watt per month with a 1000 watt connected load, as well. The fixed charge, for single phase customers with an usage of 150 units to 200 units, has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 160. The rate has also gone up to Rs 100 from Rs 80 for 200-250 units single phase customers. There is tariff hike in the agricultural sector too. The fixed charge has been hiked to Rs 15 from Rs 10.
