KOCHI: 23 candidates, including Idukki native Abimon Varghese, have filed a petition in the High Court demanding that the selection process conducted for recruitment to the armed forces should not be cancelled in the name of the 'Agnipath' recruitment scheme. The petitioners had applied as per the notification published on October 21, 2020, for appointment to Army posts. Their fitness test was completed on February 28, 2021. Petitioners, with C certificate of NCC, had also prepared for the common examination for army entrance. The exam, which was scheduled to be held on April 25, 2021, was postponed to July 25 due to Covid. Meanwhile, it was notified that those who have NCC certificates do not have to appear for the exam. The petitioners said that the Centre implemented the Agnipath scheme while they were waiting for admission to the army.
