One and a half crore allocated to strengthen organ donation systems: Minister Veena George

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday said that Rs one and a half crore rupees have been allocated to strengthen the organ donation surgery systems in the state. Rs 55 lakhs have been allocated to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, Rs 50 lakhs to Kottayam Medical College, and Rs 45 lakhs to Kozhikode Medical College. The aim is to increase the number of organ donations and conduct more organ donation surgeries in medical colleges. This will be a help to many people who are waiting to be saved through organ donation.

The minister also stated that the money was allowed to the medical colleges for activation of organ transplant surgeries, including liver transplant surgery. The amount was sanctioned for Ventilator, Multiparameter Monitors, Portable ABG Analyzer Machine, 10 ICU Beds and Surgical Equipment in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, Anesthesia Workstation, Transplant Equipment for Liver Transplant, Laparoscopy Set and Renal Transplant ICU Equipment in Kottayam Medical College and CRRT Machine, Portable Dialysis Machine and Ultra Low Temperature Freeze in Kozhikode Medical College.
