‘I was arrested for loving a woman; Till truth comes out, I am ready to bear the scars of love’: Sanal Kumar Sasidharan

Filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan said that the government and the police are hunting him for loving a woman. He was arrested by the police for stalking actress Manju Warrier, two months back. Now, the director has penned down a note on Facebook, in response to the incident.

In the post, Sanal Kumar explains that his social media accounts were frozen after his arrest and that many things had happened during the period that have reinforced his concerns. “Truth is not something I should argue for myself. It should come out its own”, he wrote.

“After two months of my arrest I got my google and social media accounts back. I was arrested for loving a woman and thereby allegedly harassing her. Truth is not something I should argue for myself. It should come out its own. Let it come out and till then I am ready to bear the scars of love.

But the police conspiracy to shut me up for raising concerns over the law and order situation in the state is evident from the entire events of my arrest. It was against all the principles of law. A mischievous plan was there to trap me in something more grave or take my life. But fortunately my Facebook live spoiled their plan.

I was asked to avail bail on that day at midnight from the police station itself. When I insisted to produce me before the court, one police officer threatened me with his service revolver. I was not afraid of death and stood adamant and at last they had to produce me before the court and I was granted bail.

My mobile phones were taken into custody and I was kept out of my google account and social media by hacking into it and changing the settings. (My phones are still in their custody) I was not able to talk to the society about my case and what was that happened to me. I heard many friends (?) judging me that I am a psychopath for the concerns I raised.

If you go through my social media posts during the last two years, you can see that I was consistently warning against a mafia in Kerala and its infiltration in the police and the governance and even into the judiciary. During the two months in which I was kept away from social media, a lot of things happened that were supporting my apprehensions.

Now people know that whoever talk against the government are under threat. False cases were inflicted on many people who were raising voices. Police is being nakedly used as puppets to protect the shady face of the government. But most of the writers, intellectuals and cultural activists are keeping silence. I can understand them better now. They know that a society which only knows to laugh at people who raise their voice against the conventional silence can't be helped.”
