THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Waterways and Infrastructure Limited (KWIL) has started a study on the infrastructure to be developed to make the Kovalam-Bakal waterway a tourism route and economic corridor. Based on KWIL's report, KIIFB will prepare a master plan. The project will be implemented with private participation.
The study will identify the centres where services can be started on the model of Kochi Water Metro, existing facilities, inadequacies, new boat jetties, cargo terminals, hazardous material unloading facilities, tourism centres, development of feeder canals, passenger services etc.
