MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in a financial scam case related to the Patra Chawl redevelopment project. Sanjay Raut was taken into custody after the interrogation and raid at his residence.
The interrogation took place at his residence in Bhandup area, Mumbai under CRPF security. The ED also conducted inspection at the residence.
Earlier, Raut had been summoned twice by ED to appear for questioning. But he refused to appear. He did not attend citing the fact that the Parliament session was going on. Shiv Sena workers had gathered in front of the residence in support of Sanjay Raut.
Meanwhile, Raut had earlier alleged that political vendetta was being carried out against him. He sweared on Balasaheb Thackeray's behalf that no corruption has been committed. Raut also tweeted that Thackeray has taught him to fight.
