India and Pakistan likely to face each other twice in upcoming Asia Cup; Jay Shah releases schedule

MUMBAI: BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council, has released the schedule of Asia Cup T20 cricket. India and Pakistan are in the same group in the tournament which will start on August 27th in UAE. A total of six teams will be divided into two groups this time.


Apart from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, one more team will participate in the tournament after playing the qualifying round. Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE will compete in the qualifiers. The team that wins the qualifying round will compete in Group B, which includes India and Pakistan. The top two teams in each group will advance to the Super Four. The teams that reach the Super Four will face each other each time. From Group B, India and Pakistan are likely to enter the Super Four. In that case, both teams will be facing each other at least twice in the tournament.

The tournament will begin on August 27 with Sri Lanka facing Afghanistan. The India-Pakistan group stage match is on August 28. Dubai will be the venue for the India-Pakistan fight.
