Came to buy three kilos of onions, decamps with Rs 15,000

BALARAMAPURAM: A thief, who came under the guise of buying onions from a grocery shop, decamped with Rs 15,000. The incident took place at around 6 pm on Monday. The theft occurred at the grocery cum stationery shop of Mohanan, a native of Kottukalkonam. Initially, the thief asked for onions and then asked to weigh three more kilos of onion again. Following which, Mohanan went to the adjacent room to get onions. At the time, the thief took Rs 15,000 kept in the moneybox and fled the place.

As the thief wore a mask, his face was not clearly visible, Mohanan told the police. He handed over the CCTV footage showing the thief reaching the shop and escaping after the theft to the Balaramapuram police.
