Appointment was made by the university, not the government, VC should answer, says minister R Bindu

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister R Bindu has reacted to the incident where the governor stayed the appointment process of Priya Varghese. The minister said that the government is not in any way interfering with the appointment. "The appointment was made by the university. It is the VC who should answer. The appointment can be made only according to the law," the minister said.

Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had issued an order staying the appointment process of Priya Varghese this evening. The Governor froze the appointment process using his power as the Chancellor. Meanwhile, Kannur University VC Gopinath Ravindran said that he will approach the court against the Governor's action.
