KOCHI: A honey trap gang, who tied up and brutally thrashed a youth after robbing him off his gold ornaments and money, was nabbed by the police. The accused have been identified as Haseena (28), her husband J Jithin (28) and S Anshad (26) of Umayanalloor, Kollam. Anas, one of the accused, is still absconding.
The victim is a 34-year-old man, native of Vaikom, who runs a home nursing service in Thrippunithura. Haseena had acquainted with the youth under the pretext of seeking a nursing job. Later, they began to call each other frequently. Meanwhile, Haseena asked him for some money.
When the youth suggested to send the money via account, Haseena insisted him to pay her directly. Following which, on August 8, the youth went to give the money at a lodge near Ernakulam General Hospital, where the woman was staying. He was welcomed by Haseena at room number 205 in the lodge.
Later, the youth was tied up on a chair and brutally beaten by Jithin, Anshad and Anas. They took the youth’s gold chain, ring, a phone worth Rs 20,000 and Rs 5,000 cash.
In addition, he was made to transfer Rs 15,000 to Haseena’s bank account via a mobile app. Later, the accused sold the youth’s mobile phone at Penta Menaka and fled the district.
The youth, who sustained injuries all over his body, lodged a complaint with the police on August 13. The accused were caught from Maradu with the help of the cyber cell. According to reports, Anas, who is absconding, is Haseena’s brother. The accused were caught by a team led by SHO S Vijayashankar. The team comprised of sub inspectors’ K P Akhil, Xavier Lal, senior civil police officers Aneesh, Ignesious, Vinod and Shihab Manoj among others
