Fisherman may have been shot from Navy boat, ballistic inspection on INS Dronacharya for confirmation, instructs to produce guns

KOCHI: As per preliminary conclusion of the police, a fisherman was shot in the sea at Fort Kochi during the shooting training by the Navy. The police will conduct ballistic inspection on INS Dronacharya to confirm this. The Navy has also been asked to produce the guns used for training. Five guns were used in the training.

The spot where the fisherman was shot in the sea is facing the shooting range. A major accident was avoided as he got shot at a distance of one and a half kilometers from the shore. The police also estimates that loss of life may occur if shot within 700 metres.

Sebastian, a fishermen on the inboard boat 'Al Rahman', that had gone to sea for fishing, was shot at sea on Wednesday morning. The bullet hit him below the ear. After the accident, he was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi. The workers had alleged that the accident occurred during shooting training held by Navy.
