Chief Minister extends birthday wishes to Oomen Chandy

ALUVA: Unlike usual, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy celebrated his 79th birthday on yesterday by cutting cake and having sweets. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker A N Shamseer, actor Mammootty, MA Yusafali and many others came to greet him.

The birthday celebration was held at the Aluva Palace, where he was resting before going to Germany for throat treatment.

In the morning DCC President Muhammad Shiyas and KPCC General Secretary BA Abdul Muthalib delivered the cake but Anwar Sadath MLA cut it. As usual, Oommen Chandy refused to cut the cake. He cut the cake brought by Benny Bahanan MP and his wife when they insisted. He received sweets from his wife Mariyamma. His wife and son Chandy Oommen said that it was the first time Oommen Chandy cut the birthday cake.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came to wish Oommen Chandy on his birthday at 6.45 pm yesterday. CM wrapped a golden shawl around him. After inquiring about the illness, he told to see him when he returns to health. CM returned within 15 minutes. Actor Mammootty and speaker AN Shamseer also visited Chandy on his birthday and gave gits.
