THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the government will take immediate steps to distribute land to the landless in the state.

"3,41,095 families are landless in Kerala. A total of 10,500 acres would be required to distribute at least three cents to each family. 8,210 acres will be available after settling the cases on various land boards. Land can be given to all if existing surplus land cases are settled," he said after inaugurating the digital resurvey project.

"With the completion of the digital resurvey, land information and services will be available to the people in a completely flawless manner. The 'Ente Bhoomi' scheme also includes a settlement plan to resolve border disputes permanently. Although government departments provide better service, some isolated individuals have not imbibed this culture. The departments need not protect such people," CM added.

Revenue Minister K Rajan presided over the function. Speaker AN Shamseer released the theme song prepared by Survey and Land Records Department.
