KOCHI: Cinematographer S Sudheesh (44) of Mundayykkal house,Thripunithara has passed away. He was undergoing treatment for a rare disease called Amyloidosis for two years. He died yesterday morning in a private hospital in Changanassery. His last film was 'Appan' directed by Maju and released this year. Vinod Ellampally completed the film after Sudheesh fell ill during the final stages of filming.
He started his career as an assistant cinematographer in the Bollywood film ‘Chandni Bar’ directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. Later, he worked as assistant in Rajeev Kumar's ‘Shesham’ and Anurag Kashyap's 'Dev D'. He worked as second unit cinematographer in Rajeev Ravi's films Annayum Rasoolum', 'Kammattipadam' and 'Thuramukham'. Sudheesh was the chief associate in Ranjith's 'Black' and Lal Jose’s ‘Classmates’. He became a freelance cinematographer with Dulquer Salmaan starrer 'Second Show'. Later he worked as a cinematographer for the films ‘D Company’, ‘Rose Guitarinal’, ‘My Fan Ramu’, ‘Njan Steve Lopez’, ‘Koothara’, ‘Ayal Sasi’, ‘Aanaye Pokiya Pappan’, ‘Eeda’ and ‘Ottam’. Father: Late VKS Nair (Retd. BSNL), mother: Lakshmi Devi. His funeral was held yesterday.
