TEHRAN: Iran has disbanded their morality police system. Reports said the decision was taken in the context of the anti-hijab protests going on after more than two months. Iran's Attorney General said that morality police have nothing to do with the judiciary.

The reports that came in said the Attorney General's statement was at a religious gathering. He said this while replying to the question 'why the morality police were not disbanded.’

Many women have been victims of violence by morality police because of the mandatory female head covering. After the death of Mahsa Amini, the anti-hijab protest became stronger. 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by the morality police in Tehran for not wearing a headscarf on September 13. She died on September 16. Many have died in the anti-hijab protests.
