KOZHIKODE: The Muslim League (ML) is not a communal party, said CPI leader Binoy Viswam. League cannot be seen as a communal party like the SDPI and the Popular Front and the discussion of taking them to the front is immature, clarified the leader.
Meantime, the CPI state leadership is dissatisfied with the statement of CPM state secretary M V Govindan praising the league. The CPI's stand is that there was no need to praise a party in the UDF and unnecessary discussions are going on.
M V Govindan said the League is not a communal party but a party working in a democratic manner. His statement that had joined the League during the Seven Party Alliance and can unite with anyone in the fight against communalism, but is not a political alliance, had stoked a controversy.
