Syro Malabar land deal case; setback for Cardinal Mar George Alencherry as SC won’t allow him to skip appearing in court

NEW DELHI: Cardinal Mar George Alencherry faced a setback in Supreme Court in the Syro Malabar land deal case. The SC said that it cannot issue an order allowing him to skip appearing in court in person for the trial. As per the decision of the bench presided by Justice Rishikesh Roy, the Cardinal must appear in person at Kakkanad Magistrate court tomorrow.

The SC also said that it will consider Mar Alencherry’s plea to cancel the cases related to Syro Malabar land deals in the second week of January.
