THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Complaints have been raised that there are errors in the new buffer zone map issued today with the survey number included. In Palakkad's Parambikulam, a complaint was raised that the land under the same survey number was recorded both inside and outside the buffer zone. The survey number in question is 570. Complaints were also raised that the picture of Thattekadu Bird Sanctuary was given instead of Silent Valley. But as soon as the complaint was noticed, the accurate map of Silent Valley was updated.

It is also alleged that Mannarkkad municipality has been left out of the buffer zone map.

The forest department issued the new buffer zone map after including the survey numbers on Wednesday evening. The authorities informed that the map has been published excluding the population centres. People can file a complaint within the next seven months if they find any ambiguity or errors in the map.

The draft map was released yesterday. The expert committee had pointed out that there were inaccuracies in this, on the basis of which the map with survey number was published.
