THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The introduction of ticketing system through QR code in KSRTC buses will be delayed. Management's explanation in this regard is that there are some technical hurdles to be resolved.
UPI payment system was the solution KSRTC management found to resolve disputes in the name of change and to promote digital transactions. The decision was to implement it in super class buses from January. But the conductors raised the difficulty of carrying the QR code machine along with the ETM machine. There is also the issue of how to resolve a dispute with passengers due to possible glitches in the QR code. Discussions are underway to resolve all this. A digital ticketing system is a long-standing need. But passengers will benefit only if the system is flawless.
