Class 8 boy applies ‘sindoor’ on class 6 girl at knife point

LUCKNOW: A strange incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district. A class 8 boy barged into the house of a class 6 girl and applied sindoor on her forehead after putting a knife on her throat.

The boy scaled the boundary wall of her house along with his friend. The boy then applied sindoor on the forehead of the 14-year-old girl. They came when no one was at home. When the girl raised an alarm, they managed to escape.

The 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on her father’s complaint. Station house officer Ravi Kumar Rai said the boy came in a bike with his friend. The girl was sweeping the floor when they came. One of them put a knife on her throat and then applied vermilion. She narrated the incident to her father when he returned home after work. He then lodged the complaint. The police identified the bike based on CCTV visuals. The boy’s father owns a footwear shop in the village.

The boy was produced before a child welfare committee and is now housed at the juvenile home. Rai said the boy showed no remorse for the act and said that he loved the girl and wanted to marry her. He has been constantly harassing the girl by stalking and proposing her for the last three months.

Though the girl’s parents admitted her to another school, he was not willing to withdraw from the act.
