Siddique Kappan likely to be released from jail soon; court directs sureties to appear for last stage of proceedings

NEW DELHI: Malayali journalist Siddique Kappan may be released from jail soon The verification process for providing bail to Kappan is in progress. Kappan was arrested by the UP Police two years ago on charges of attempted rioting. He will be released once the procedures are completed and the release order is issued.

Siddique Kappan had remained in jail for the last two years as he was charged with several serious cases, including UAPA. Last September, the Supreme Court had granted bail to Kappan in the UAPA case, while on December 23, the Allahabad High Court gave him bail in the money laundering case too.
