KOCHI: The government said that an investigation is not needed against former Kannur district panchayat president and CPM leader P P Divya in the benami deal complaint. The government's stand is that no vigilance probe is needed into the corruption allegations. The government has informed the high court that there is no evidence for her involvement in various contracts. The government informed their stand in the court on the complaint of KSU leader Muhammad Shamas.

The KSU leader's complaint was that there was a benami deal when Divya was the panchayat president. Meantime, the government has recommended an investigation against the former district panchayat secretary found responsible for procedural lapses.

Divya is the sole accused in the case related to the suicide of ADM Naveen Babu. She was recently removed from the state leadership of democratic mahila association. Following Naveen Babu's death, Divya was demoted from the district committee to the branch level. She was later removed from the Mahila Association post.
