THRISSUR: The Congress has filed a complaint alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation regarding the Women's Reservation Bill is a violation of the election code of conduct. Congress leader and AICC member Anil Akkara has filed a complaint with the central election commission pointing this. The complaint alleged that the system of the central and state governments was used for political campaigning while the model code of conduct was in force.

The Prime Minister addressed the nation on Doordarshan the other day. The complaint states that he levelled political criticisms in this address. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had also accused the Prime Minister of misusing his official speech for political gains. Kharge alleged that the Prime Minister mentioned the Congress 59 times in his speech but did not talk much about women's issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said yesterday that the women of the country will give an answer to the opposition that did not support the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill. Modi apologized to the mothers and sisters of the country for not being able to pass the bill. He was addressing the nation from 8.30 to 9 pm last night. The Prime Minister raised this argument when the opposition criticized the move as a move to support the sentiments of women voters in favor of the BJP, with assembly elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu approaching.
