Sabarimala gold theft: Taking gold frames in 2025 to be investigated, P S Prasanth grilled

PATHANAMTHITTA: Reports say the SIT will be investigating the gold frames taken from Sabarimala last year. Reports emerged that former Devaswom Board president P S Prasanth was questioned again yesterday. This is the third time Prasanth is being questioned in the gold theft. Aji Kumar, former Devaswom Board member, was also questioned.

The SIT had received hints that Prasanth has a major role in the gold theft. It is believed that the group including Prasanth conspired to take the Dwarapalaka frames to Chennai without informing the court. It is believed that the then devaswom public works executive engineer was replaced with the assistant executive engineer and the devaswom vigilance was not informed before taking the frames is part of the conspiracy.

Prasanth had responded after the first interrogation that he was asked about matters related to the gold plating of the Dwarapalaka idols and that he had given answered correctly. He had responded that the recording of statements was completed and that he would not have to appear before the SIT again.

The special investigation team recorded the statements of all the officials in the group that took the frames from Sabarimala in September last year. They were summoned to Sannidhanam and Thiruvananthapuram for the recording of statements.
