GWALIOR: A recent report has claimed that a rift has emerged within the Indian cricket team on the eve of their T20I series against Bangladesh. According to the report, former India T20 captain Hardik Pandya and bowling coach Morne Morkel are at odds with each other. The issue began during a practice session, with Morkel expressing dissatisfaction with the situation.
The incident involving Hardik Pandya and Morné Morkel occurred during a net session with the bowlers. Reports suggest that Pandya was unwilling to bowl as per Morkel's instructions, leading to the altercation. During the net session, Morné Morkel had asked Hardik Pandya to bowl on different lines. He had also pointed out some issues with Pandya's release point. However, Hardik disregarded Morkel's feedback and continued bowling aiming at the stumps.
Morné Morkel expressed dissatisfaction with Hardik Pandya's stance as he continued with the same approach. A minor disagreement arose between the two after Morkel questioned Pandya's approach. Following the disagreement, Morkel directed Hardik Pandya to stop bowling in the nets, the report said.
This is not the first instance of Hardik clashing with coaches and teammates. The all-rounder had previously been involved in controversies, raising concerns about his dynamics with the team. Notably, it was Hardik who bowled the crucial final over in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, which India won. This is not the first time Hardik has clashed with coaches and his teammates.
