JAIPUR: Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Stadium witnessed a rampage yesterday led by a school boy turned cricket prodigy. Rajasthan Royals' boy wonder, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, was not ready to miss his revenge against Praful Hinge, the bowler who dismissed Sooryavanshi for a golden duck in the previous match held at Hyderabad.
In yesterday's match, the first ball of the first over was faced by Yashasvi Jaiswal. He took one run and handed the strike to Sooryavanshi, but the next ball went for a dot. Vaibhav unleashed his explosive side from the third ball, and there was no stopping after that. Sooryavanshi was unapologetic, hitting sixes on the next four balls. Critics of the game rated the shots as classic, coming from a 15-year-old boy.
Vaibhav scored 103 runs in 37 balls with the help of five fours and 12 sixes. Rajasthan Royals, who had lost the toss in Jaipur and elected to bat first, increased the score to 228 in the stipulated 20 overs thanks to Vaibhav's century and Dhruv Jurel's half-century. However, Sunrisers, in reply, achieved victory in 18.3 overs with the combined efforts of Ishan Kishan (77), Abhishek Sharma (57), Nitish Kumar Reddy (36) and Hentrich Klaasen (29).
This is Vaibhav's first century of the season and his second century in IPL. He had scored 101 runs against Gujarat last season. Vaibhav has already scored 357 runs from eight matches this season, including two half-centuries. Vaibhav is also the Orange Cap holder for currently being the top scorer in the tournament.
