KANNUR: The police have registered a case against 'Insta Pay', the loan app in connection with the death of Nithin Raj, a student of Anjarakandy Dental College. The FIR states that Nithin Raj was mentally harassed through threats and was pressured into repaying the money. A college teacher had filed a complaint with the cyber police stating that Nithin Raj was being threatened by a loan app. This complaint was later handed over to the Chakkarakkal police.

Nithin Raj took a loan of Rs 15,000 from the loan app on January 16. The money was borrowed at an interest rate of 36 percent. The day before his death, Nithin Raj was called 98 times from the app. Even the numbers in Nithin Raj's contact list received phone calls from the app. His teachers said the mental stress that followed led Nithin Raj to take the drastic step. Following this, the police have registered a case against the loan app.

Meantime, the teachers accused in Nithin Raj's death are absconding for the seventh day. The police suspect that they may have gone out of the state. Following the protests by the students, the college authorities held talks with the parents and had assured that Dr Ram would be expelled. However, the students are demanding that all the teachers responsible for his death be expelled. The students have decided to continue their protests.
