MUMBAI: Sreesanth's wife Bhuvaneshwari Kumari slammed former IPL chairman Lalit Modi for releasing a video of Harbhajan Singh infamously slapping Sreesanth during the first edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008. Bhuvaneshwari Kumari questioned the intention behind making the video public after 18 years, as she blamed Lalit Modi for using the video as a ploy to increase viewership for his podcasts.
Bhuvaneshwari Kumari also strongly criticised former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke.
Sreesanth’s wife said that the video appearing after 18 long years would likely reopen old wounds and hurt their family members too.
"It is an inhuman and heartless act. After a lot of hardship, Sreesanth has built a life that he can be proud of. It is painful to bring up those scenes again after 18 years. This will not only hurt him. Now my children will also have to face questions for a crime that is not theirs. Sreesanth is a man of strength and personality. No visuals can erase that. Before hurting children and families for your own gains, think about God," said Bhuvaneshwari Kumari.
