Former Indian cricketer confirms engagement to Irish girlfriend, grand wedding in the planning

NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is getting married again. The bride is his long-time friend and Irish native Sophie Shine. Dhawan himself announced the engagement on social media. 'From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever. ,' Dhawan wrote on Instagram.

Dhawan also shared a picture of the ring. The wedding is expected to take place in Delhi in February. Reports suggest that the ceremony will be a grand reception attended by celebrities from the cricket world and Bollywood. Preparations for the wedding have already begun.

Sophie Shine is currently serving as the second vice president of Northern Trust Corporation in Abu Dhabi. Sophie, who has worked as a product consultant, is also the head of Dhawan's charity organisation, 'Shikhar Dhawan Foundation'. Sophie, who has more than three lakh followers on Instagram, has been sharing pictures with Dhawan for a long time. Although Sophie was seen with Dhawan at many cricket matches, their love affair became public only during the 2025 Champions Trophy match.

Dhawan fell in love with Sophie after divorcing his ex-wife Ayesha Mukherjee. Dhawan married kickboxer Ayesha in 2012. The star has an 11-year-old son with Ayesha. Dhawan had previously alleged that disputes related to the star's property led to the separation from his ex-wife. The court granted the divorce in 2023.
