TEHRAN: Amid escalating threats of conflict in the Middle East, Indian supertankers are navigating the volatile Strait of Hormuz with heightened caution. The Sarv Shakti, a massive vessel carrying 45,000 tons of LPG, was recently spotted moving through the Strait toward the Gulf of Oman. Flying the Marshall Islands flag, the tanker’s passage is a critical move in India's broader efforts to secure its energy supply and mitigate the risks of a domestic energy crisis.

The situation remains delicate as maritime operators employ strategic manoeuvres to avoid detection. Recent reports indicate that another vessel, the Desh Garima, successfully transited the Strait after disabling its tracking signals to ensure a safe passage. Despite the friction between regional powers and Iran, several Indian ships have been permitted to continue their routes. Nevertheless, Indian maritime authorities are maintaining a policy of extreme vigilance, as the Strait remains the world’s most sensitive chokepoint for global energy corridors.
