Lankan women done and dusted in Thiruvananthapuram; India sweeps T20 series

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India won the fifth and final match of the T20 series against Sri Lanka. India won the first two matches in Visakhapatnam and the three matches in Thiruvananthapuram. India's lead is 5-0. Chasing a target of 176 runs in the last match, Sri Lankan women could only score 160 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. India won the last match by 15 runs.

Chasing the target, opener Hasin Perera 65(42) and Imesha Dulani 50(39) gave hope for Sri Lanka, but the other batsmen failed to rise to the occasion. Captain Chamari Atapattu2(5), Nilakshi Silva 3(5), Kaveesha Dilhari 5(4) and Harshita Samarawickrama 8(9) disappointed. Rashmika Sevanthi 14*(8) and Malki Madara 5*(5) remained unbeaten, but it was not enough to secure victory. All the bowlers who bowled for India took one wicket each.

Batting first, India scored 175 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored a half-century, was the top scorer for India with 68 (43). Arundhati Reddy's quick-fire 27* (11) in the last overs took India past 150. Amanjot Kaur 21 (18), Harleen Deol 13 (11) and Kamalini 12 (12) later put up good performances. Shafali Verma, who had three consecutive half-centuries, failed to shine with 5 (6).

India rested vice-captain Smriti Mandhana in the last match. For Sri Lanka, Chamari Attappattu, Rashmika Sevanthi and Kaveesha Dilhari took two wickets each, while Nimasha Madhushani took one wicket.
