CHENNAI: Sunday’s super rival match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians saw the birth of a star. Vignesh Puthur, the Kerala spinner who came as an impact player in the first match of the season, had a good day at the office taking three crucial wickets.
Vignesh took three wickets for 32 runs in four overs. He dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda. Despite Mumbai losing the game, Vignesh ended up getting all the adulation. Even CSK captain MS Dhoni couldn’t help but praise the new star in town.
The Mumbai Indians' dressing room was abuzz over Vignesh’s performance. After the game, Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani reached the dressing room to offer her special gift to the local Kerala talent.
Nita announced Vignesh as the best bowler of yesterday’s game and gave him a special pin emblazoned with the MI logo. The pin was put on his T-shirt.
“I never thought that I would play with these players in my life. Thank you, MI. We could have won the game today. I never felt any pressure because Surya Bhai was too supportive.” Said Vignesh.
