One cm difference robs Neeraj Chopra of gold medal in Diamond League final

BRUSSELS: Indian Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra finished second in Sunday's Diamond League javelin throw competition. Former world champion and Grenadian star Anderson Peters came first by a narrow margin.

Neeraj's best performance was recorded as 87.86 meters. Meanwhile, Anderson Peters threw 87.87 m. This is the second year in a row that the 26-year-old Neeraj is finishing second in the league. Neeraj Chopra was crowned the winner of the 2022 Diamond League. German player Julian Weber is third. He attained a distance of 85.87m.

It took Neeraj three attempts to get his best figure while Anderson achieved the top feat on his first attempt. Neeraj, who won gold in the javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics, had to be contented with a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. Neeraj performed even better in the match held in Lausanne. He threw 89.49 meters that day. It was the second-best performance of his career.
