LAHORE: Pakistan is considering boycotting the Twenty20 World Cup match against India. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met to discuss the matter. Pakistan plans to announce the final decision within two days. Pakistan gave a second thought on whether to contest in the tournament after they blamed India for Bangladesh's withdrawal from the tournament.

The ICC had rejected Bangladesh's request to move their matches to Sri Lanka. Bangladesh then withdrew while ICC included Scotland instead. Pakistan also considered boycotting the tournament in protest. However, Pakistan bowed to the ICC's warning of strict action. However, Pakistan is now considering boycotting its match against India as a part of its support for Bangladesh.

India, Pakistan, USA and Netherlands are competing in the same group. Pakistan is considering boycotting the match against India as they are certain to advance to the next round from the group stage, as other opponents are novices. There are also indications that Pakistan would give up this plan if they fail to beat either USA or the Netherlands.

Naqvi held a crucial meeting with the Pakistani Prime Minister for about 30 minutes. However, a final decision has not been taken yet on their move to boycott the match against India.
