Rahul’s mother expresses regret for son’s mistake, admits his former marriage 

KOZHIKODE: Usha, mother of Rahul P Gopal, the accused in attacking his newlywed wife in Pantheerankavu, admitted that her son has married earlier. She admitted that he had registered the marriage with a girl in Erattupetta. Her revelation was when the police have intensified search for Rahul, who is on the run.

‘Rahul had registered his marriage with the woman of Erattupetta. He had tried to take her abroad. Dowry was not demanded from the girl in Paravoor. Her family’s allegations are totally baseless. Expressing regret for the mistake committed by his son, am really sad,’ said Usha.

The investigation team suspect Rahul to be hiding in Bengaluru. The police collected the statement of the girl’s family last evening. It lasted till 10 pm. The police recorded the detailed statement of the girl, parents, close relatives and many others.

The girl explained to the special investigation team the brutalities Rahul inflicted on her, including verbal abuse, beatings and murder attempt. The parents also told police their experiences when they came to Rahul's house for the reception. ACP Saju P Abraham, in charge of the special investigation, said the statements of the complainants have been completed and the investigation is entering the next phase.
