HYDERABAD: Rajasthan Royals, who were chasing their fifth consecutive win, were stopped in their tracks in Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan by 57 runs. Chasing a target of 217 runs, the Royals' reply ended at 159 runs in 19 overs. Rajasthan collapsed in the face of brilliant bowling from Indian pacers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, who were both playing their debut match.

Collapse

Chasing the target, the Royals lost three wickets in the first over bowled by Hinge. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, and Migael Pretorius all returned for ducks. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the next over for just one run. Captain Riyan Parag was out for 4 (6) as Rajasthan were reduced to a staggering 9/5 in 3 overs.

Recovery

Although the Royals feared being bowled out for the lowest score in IPL history, a resilient stand between Ravindra Jadeja (45 off 32) and Donovan Ferreira (69 off 44) for the sixth wicket saved them from major embarrassment. Their partnership added 118 runs from 72 balls. The other batsmen dismissed were Jofra Archer (2), Tushar Deshpande (25), and Ravi Bishnoi (0). Nandre Burger remained unbeaten on 3*. Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain took four wickets each, while Lasith Malinga took the remaining two.

SRH Innings

Batting first, Sunrisers scored 216/6 in 20 overs. Apart from Ishan Kishan, who fell just short of a century, South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen also shone with the bat. Opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on the first ball of the match. His partner Travis Head also failed to fire, scoring 18 (18).

Kishan (91 off 44) and Klaasen (40 off 26) put on 88 runs from 39 balls for the third wicket. Kishan’s explosive innings included eight fours and six sixes. When this partnership broke, Hyderabad were at 143/3 in 13.2 overs. Later, Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 28 (13) and Aniket Verma added 6 (5), while Salil Arora remained unbeaten on 24 off 13 balls. Jofra Archer took two wickets for Rajasthan, while Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, and captain Riyan Parag took one wicket each.
