DUBAI: Mohammed Siraj has made progress in the ICC rankings after his excellent performance in the England tour. Siraj has reached 15th place in the list of Test bowlers after his player of the match performance in the Oval Test. This is the best ranking in the pacer's career. Siraj's performance was crucial in winning the fifth Test at the Oval and levelling the series.

He shone with nine wickets in the match. The player won the player of the match award with nine wickets, including four in the first innings and five in the second innings. The five-wicket performance in the second innings was Siraj's fifth 'five-for' in his career. Chasing a target of 374 runs, England were bowled out for 367 runs. India's legendary victory was by six runs. The previous best ranking was 16th, which he achieved last January. Jasprit Bumrah is the top bowler with 889 rating points. Bumrah is the only Indian to feature in the top 10.

Shubman Gill drops

India's young captain Shubman Gill had to drop down in the ICC Test batsmen's rankings. He earned the 'Player of the Series' award after scoring 754 runs in 5 Tests. However, Gill has lost four places in the rankings and is now at 13th place. Gill also holds the record for the most runs scored by an Indian captain in a Test series. Gill's failure to shine with the bat in the last Test was a setback for him. Meanwhile, only Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is at number three, and vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who is at number eight, are in the top 10 batsmen list.
