MADRID: In an unprecedented incident, Real Madrid players Fede Valverde and teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni engaged in a bitter altercation, leaving the former in the hospital with stitches. It is announced that the Real Madrid team started disciplinary action against the two players for compromising the decorum espoused by the club.
The confrontation is reported to have taken place during Wednesday’s training session and continued even inside the dressing room. It is said that the players exchanged physical blows and had to be separated by other players and the coaching staff.
Valverde was taken to Blua Sanitas Valdebebas hospital, where he was administered stitches for the cut on his forehead. Doctors suggested that the player will have to rest for the next 14 days and will probably miss the El Clásico coming on the 11th of this month.
Valverde’s statement on social media: “At no point did my team-mate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either, although I understand it’s easier for you to believe we came to blows or that it was intentional, but that didn’t happen. I feel that my anger about the situation, my frustration at seeing some of us struggling to get through the end of the season on our last legs, giving it our all, pushed me to the point of arguing with a teammate.”
The confrontation and the fight are the first of their kind in the club’s history, and more actions may follow. The football followers across the globe and fans of Madrid were shocked to hear of the tussle between two of their most important players. It is rare for teammates in a club as great as Madrid to engage in a full-fledged fight.
More disciplinary actions may follow against the two players.
