LONDON: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli stepped down from T20I cricket a year ago after guiding India to a T20 World Cup victory. Earlier this year, on May 12, he also announced his retirement from Test cricket. At present, Kohli is active only in the ODI format. Now, a recent photograph of the star has left fans questioning whether his ODI career might also be nearing its end.
The photo, captured in England alongside another person, shows Kohli with a beard streaked with noticeable grey hair- a look that caught fans off guard. In May, following his Test retirement, Kohli had commented, “When you need to dye your beard every four days, you’ll know it’s time.”
India’s next ODI series is scheduled for October, starting with a clash against Australia in Perth on October 19, followed by matches in Adelaide on October 23 and Sydney on October 25.
Kohli is currently ranked fourth in the ICC ODI batting rankings with 736 points. Over the course of 302 ODIs, he has amassed 14,181 runs at an average of 57.88, including 51 centuries and 74 half-centuries. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma holds the third spot, while Test captain Shubman Gill leads the table with 784 points.
