PARIS: ‘My best performance is yet to come,’ said Neeraj Chopra while talking to a media after winning the silver medal in javelin throw at the Paris Olympics.

Neeraj said that he is proud to have won the medal for the country and that it was God's decision to give the gold to Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem. He also congratulated Nadeem for his excellent performance.

Neeraj finished second with a javelin throw of 89.45m in his attempt at the Stade de France yesterday without a foul. Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record mark of 92.97 meters and won gold. After Nadeem took the lead in the second attempt, Neeraj's five throws were fouled under pressure. Neeraj has yet to cross 90 meters in his career. Four years ago, Neeraj became the first Indian to win gold in athletics with a throw of 87.58m.

‘’My technique and runway were not that good. (I managed) only one throw, the rest I fouled,’ Chopra said. He added that if your run is not good in javelin, you cannot throw very far. Neeraj climbed to second place with a throw of 89.45 meters in his second attempt. Neeraj's third, fourth, fifth and sixth attempts were also fouled.
